These are two pieces of her made work and if I'm completely honest, I'm not entirely sure how they were made or whether they're supposed to represent anything but I am truly fascinated by them. Something that really interests me in general is the human body; the way it works and functions, but more specifically the aesthetic of the human body. In these photos, the focal point of these human-esque creatures is the spine. The skin seems to be stretched taut over each of the vertebrae. The muscles and other bones are also visible under the skin which creates an almost alien feel despite the fact that these bodies are completely human. I particularly like the piece on the right because not only is it a beautiful sculpture but a great photo. I like the lighting and the neutral colours. The lighting is a white light so there's no real temperature to the photo, I think temperature is a very important aspect for determining the mood of a photo, the exposure is perfect and the shadows contour each curve and bump on the body. I really want to mimic this sort of effect in my final piece as I'm going to be looking at human bodies.
